STL High School Champions League 2025 Tournament Rundown

The 2025 St. Louis High School Champions League tournament featured 16 top local boys' soccer teams competing in a pool play format, culminating in a final four playoff where SLUH claimed their first-ever Champions League title. The tournament provided intense competition and a prelude to the later MSHSAA state playoffs.


Tournament Format and Pool Play


The tournament began with 16 teams divided into four pools (A, B, C, and D), with round-robin play determining the winner of each pool, who then advanced to the semifinals.

  • Pool A: De Smet emerged on top, showcasing a strong offensive game.

  • Pool B: Oakville secured first place in a tight group.

  • Pool C: SLUH dominated their pool, finishing undefeated to advance.

  • Pool D: Ladue was the winner of their pool, displaying a strong offensive output.


Semifinals


The four pool winners moved on to the semifinals held on October 15, 2025:


  • SLUH vs. Ladue: SLUH advanced to the final with a solid 2-0 victory over the reigning Class 3 State Champions, Ladue.

  • De Smet vs. Oakville: De Smet secured their second consecutive trip to the final by defeating Oakville with a 2-0 shutout.


Championship Final


The final match took place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the Creve Coeur Park Soccer Complex, featuring a rematch of the 2024 state championship between Metro Catholic Conference rivals, SLUH and De Smet.


  • The Match: De Smet initially took the lead two minutes into the second half. However, SLUH responded with an "unbelievable" offensive surge, scoring five unanswered goals.

  • The Result: SLUH claimed the 2025 title with a commanding 5-1 victory, their first win in the tournament's history.
