The Fort Zumwalt East Lions delivered one of the most memorable boys soccer seasons in program history in 2025 — a journey full of rivalry triumphs, big playoff moments, and a deep run all the way to the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3 championship game.

🏆 District Dominance Against Fort Zumwalt South

The Lions set the tone for their postseason with a huge district win over cross-town rivals Fort Zumwalt South. In a matchup packed with energy and stakes — where familiarity breeds intensity — East stood tall, using tactical discipline and opportunistic scoring to secure a hard-fought victory and earn a district championship. That win wasn’t just about advancing — it was about pride and momentum.

🔥 Upsetting Rockwood Summit in the Semifinals

With confidence high after districts, Fort Zumwalt East carried that energy into the state playoffs. In the Class 3 semifinals, the Lions faced Rockwood Summit, a team with a strong reputation and solid playoff pedigree. But East played with belief and composure, shutting out Summit 2-0 to punch their ticket to the state championship game — a momentous achievement that energized the school and the broader community.

This upset win wasn’t just a scoreline — it was a statement that the Lions could compete with anybody on a big stage.

🏟️ Making School History: State Championship Appearance

For the first time in program history, Fort Zumwalt East reached the state championship match — a milestone that reflects years of growth and dedication. On the biggest stage at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, the Lions faced the Van Horn Falcons, a team that brought relentless pressure and offensive firepower.

In a competitive championship game, Fort Zumwalt East battled hard. They traded goals and fought for every ball, but in the end came up short in a 4-2 result in favor of Van Horn. Despite the loss, the Lion pride was unmistakable — not just for reaching the final, but for the way they represented their program with grit and heart.

🎖️ What Made This Run Special

There’s so much to celebrate from Fort Zumwalt East’s season:

  • Rivalry passion: Beating Fort Zumwalt South for a district title brought hometown bragging rights and momentum.

  • Playoff poise: The win over Rockwood Summit in the state semifinals showcased the Lions’ ability to rise in big moments.

  • History-making achievement: Reaching the state title game marked the deepest playoff run in program history and set a new benchmark for future Lions.

🔮 Building Toward the Future

While falling short of a state championship was tough, this season will be remembered as a turning point for Fort Zumwalt East soccer. The confidence gained, the experiences earned, and the memories made will continue to fuel this program’s growth.

For the seniors who led the charge, this run was a reward for years of commitment. For underclassmen, it’s a blueprint of what’s possible with teamwork, resilience, and belief.

And for the Lions community — players, coaches, families, and fans alike — the 2025 season will stand as a roaring success that brought everyone together and reminded the soccer world that Fort Zumwalt East is a force to be reckoned with.
