Liberty (Wentzville) Boys Soccer – 2025 Season Recap
After winning back-to-back district championships in the two seasons prior, the Liberty (Wentzville) Eagles entered the 2025 campaign with expectations firmly set. With an experienced roster and one of the most dangerous attacks in the St. Louis area, Liberty looked ready to extend its recent run of postseason success.
While the season featured elite offensive production and strong play in goal, it ultimately ended earlier than hoped — closing the chapter on a senior group that helped establish Liberty as a consistent district contender.
Season Rundown
Liberty’s regular season was defined by attacking consistency and depth. The Eagles frequently controlled matches through possession and movement, creating chances from multiple areas of the field and forcing opponents to defend as a unit.
That momentum carried into district play, where Liberty once again found itself competing deep into the postseason. Although the Eagles fell short of capturing a third consecutive district title, their overall body of work reflected a team capable of competing with anyone in the area on a given night.
The season’s conclusion marked a transition point for the program, as Liberty now turns the page toward the next group of contributors.
Team Leaders & Statistical Standouts
One of the Area’s Most Productive Attacks:
Liberty’s offense was among the most explosive in the region, powered by multiple players posting standout numbers.
Corey Lynch led the Eagles with 21 goals, including 5 game-winning goals, consistently delivering in high-pressure moments.
Brenden Lukunka followed closely with 15 goals and 9 assists for 39 points, serving as both a primary scorer and creative threat.
James Naphakorn added 14 goals and 8 assists (36 points), giving Liberty a third elite attacking option.
Gavin Moyers was the engine in midfield, recording 5 goals and a team-high 19 assists (29 points) while controlling tempo and facilitating possession.
This balance made Liberty extremely difficult to defend, as opponents were forced to account for multiple scoring threats at all times.
Depth Contributions Across the Lineup
Liberty’s success wasn’t limited to its top scorers. Several players made key contributions throughout the season:
Hieu Do finished with 5 goals and 7 assists
Jackson Rocco posted 2 goals and 4 assists
Jonah Chisholm recorded 2 goals and 3 assists
Owen Horan, Ayden Davis, and Gabe Kahrhoff each provided steady production and energy in support roles
This depth allowed Liberty to maintain pressure and rhythm regardless of lineup changes.
Between the Posts: Reliable Goalkeeping
Liberty benefitted from strong goalkeeping throughout the season.
Clayton Johnson appeared in 356 minutes, posting a perfect 4-0-0 record with 3 shutouts, a 0.45 goals-against average, and a .900 save percentage.
Austin Kelly handled the majority of the minutes, logging 1,030 minutes with an 8-5-1 record, 5 shutouts, and 56 saves, providing consistency in high-volume matches.
Together, the duo gave Liberty confidence defensively and stability throughout the year.
Closing a Chapter, Looking Ahead
While Liberty’s 2025 season didn’t end with another district trophy, it didn’t erase what the program has built. Back-to-back district championships, a high-powered offense, and a competitive identity remain cornerstones of the Eagles’ success.
With a strong foundation in place and valuable experience gained, Liberty enters the next season focused on reloading, not rebuilding — ready to chase the standard they’ve already set.
